Job Overview

We are seeking a agile and experienced Shop Foreman/woman to lead our Truck and Equipment Repair shop. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop activities, ensure efficient workflow, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety. Your leadership will drive process improvements, optimize resource utilization, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

- Supervise Shop Operations: Oversee daily shop activities, coordinate workflow, and ensure truck, trailer, and heavy equipment repairs are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Lead and Manage Technicians: Assign jobs, provide technical guidance, monitor performance, and support the development of mechanics and apprentices.
- Schedule and Prioritize Repairs: Coordinate incoming work, establish repair priorities, allocate labour and shop resources, and manage deadlines to minimize equipment downtime.
- Diagnose and Troubleshoot: Assist with complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagnostic issues and ensure appropriate repair procedures are followed.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed repairs, verify workmanship, ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications, and confirm equipment is safe and ready for service.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce shop safety procedures, ensure proper use of tools and equipment, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Oversee preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and service schedules to improve equipment reliability and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
- Parts and Inventory Management: Coordinate parts ordering, monitor inventory levels, verify parts availability, and work with suppliers to minimize repair delays.
- Customer and Operations Coordination:



Communicate repair progress, technical findings, and completion timelines to management, service advisors, customers, and equipment operators as required.
- Work Orders and Documentation: Ensure accurate completion of work orders, inspection reports, labour hours, parts usage, repair records, and maintenance documentation.
- Cost and Productivity Control: Monitor labour efficiency, repair costs, overtime, and shop productivity while identifying opportunities to improve operational performance.
- Tools and Equipment Management: Ensure shop tools, diagnostic equipment, lifting devices, and machinery are properly maintained, inspected, and used safely.
- Staff Training and Development: Identify training needs, mentor technicians and apprentices, and promote consistent repair standards and technical knowledge.
- Regulatory and Manufacturer Compliance: Ensure repairs and inspections are completed in accordance with applicable regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce repeat repairs, control costs, increase productivity, and maintain high standards of service.
- Team Leadership and Accountability: Promote teamwork, professionalism, communication, and accountability while maintaining a productive and service-oriented shop environment.

Requirements

- Proven experience in transportation/service industry is an asset.
- Solid understanding of quality control standards and practices within a day to day operation setting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across departments and motivate teams
- Prior experience in supervising shop personnel and implementing safety regulations is highly desirable

Pay: $40.00-$51.20 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
