Mount Uniacke
About the role
CMA Building Systems builds prefabricated steel stud wall and floor panels for multi-storey residential and seniors' living projects across Atlantic Canada. We're the primary supplier to Design Build Solutions, part of the Shannex group, with a multi-year backlog of projects behind our Mount Uniacke plant.
As a Sheathing Technician, you take finished steel panel frames from our welding stations and close them in — installing plywood or DensGlass sheathing and applying the air barrier, following the engineered fastening details for each panel. This is an entry-level role and we will train you. If you've worked construction, framing, roofing or siding, or just like hands-on work and getting the details right, this is a positive fit.
What you'll do
- Read shop drawings and the sequencing list to identify each panel's sheathing and fastening requirements
- Measure, cut and fit plywood or DensGlass sheathing to steel stud panel frames
- Fasten sheathing using screw guns, following structural screw patterns and spacing exactly as detailed
- Install and seal the air barrier membrane, including laps, penetrations and edge details
- Inspect your own work for fastener spacing, edge distances and barrier continuity before the panel moves on
- Move panels and materials with rolling racks, jib crane and lift tables (mechanical assists are used for all heavy handling)
- Keep your station, tools and equipment in good working order
- Work safely and follow plant safety procedures
What you bring
No prior panel or plant experience is needed — we'll train you. You do need:
- Comfort with a tape measure (imperial),
a circular saw and a screw gun — or willingness to learn quickly
- Attention to detail — screw patterns and air barrier details are engineered and must be followed exactly
- Reliable, punctual and safety-minded; able to lift 50 lbs
- CSA-approved safety footwear
- Reliable transportation (no transit to the plant — we're about 20 minutes from Lower Sackville and 15 from Windsor)
Nice to have
- Construction, framing, roofing, siding or carpentry experience
- Experience reading construction or shop drawings
- High school diploma or GED
- Forklift, WHMIS or First Aid certification (we'll train and certify you if you don't have them)
What we offer
- $20–$25/hour, with reviews tied to performance and room to grow into other plant roles
- Two shift options: Days (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or Afternoons (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM), Monday to Friday
- Steady indoor work, year-round — no site work, no winter layoffs
- Paid, hands-on training
- Extended health, dental and vision care
- Life and disability insurance
- RRSP program
- Paid time off and Employee Assistance Program
- Paid training and certifications (WHMIS, First Aid, Forklift, PPE)
- Casual dress, company events, free on-site parking
