About the Opportunity

Next Step Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Site Supervisor / Superintendent for a commercial renovation project at a major downtown Vancouver hotel.

The project involves the renovation of meeting and event space within an active hotel environment. The Site Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the site, coordinating trades, maintaining the schedule, monitoring quality and safety, and working closely with the Project Manager throughout the project.

The initial phase is expected to run from late November through late February, with the possibility of a second phase beginning later in the year.

This is best suited to someone who has strong renovation or interior construction experience and is comfortable managing work in an occupied or operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day construction activity on site
- Coordinate subcontractors and trades
- Maintain project schedules and daily work sequencing
- Monitor workmanship, quality and completion of work
- Conduct site safety meetings and maintain site safety standards
- Review drawings, specifications and project requirements
- Coordinate inspections and follow up on outstanding items
- Manage deficiencies and punch-list work




- Maintain daily site records and communicate progress to the Project Manager
- Identify site issues early and work with the project team to resolve them
- Help minimize disruption to the surrounding occupied areas

Qualifications

- Several years of experience as a Site Supervisor, Superintendent or equivalent
- Solid renovation, tenant improvement or commercial interior construction experience
- Experience coordinating multiple trades on active construction sites
- Comfortable managing schedules, quality, safety and deficiencies
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in hotels, hospitality, healthcare, senior living, commercial interiors or other occupied environments is an asset

Certifications

Candidates should have current or recently expired:

- First Aid
- Working at Heights / Fall Protection
- Forklift or Telehandler certification

Candidates with strong experience who need to renew one of these certifications may still be considered.

Schedule

- Monday to Saturday
- Approximately 9 hours per day
- Paid lunch included
- Candidates must be local to the Vancouver area

This is a contract opportunity tied to a specific renovation project, with the potential for additional project work depending on performance and future needs.
