Recreation Therapist Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Recreation Therapist, CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist), to lead engaging recreational activities that enhance the quality of life for diverse populations. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs tailored to residents’ individual needs, promoting physical, emotional, and social well-being. Recreation Therapist Duties

- Design and deliver personalized recreational therapy programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care plans.
- Assess clients’ functional levels and recreational needs through comprehensive evaluations.
- Facilitate group and one-on-one activities focused on dementia care, senior care, hospice care, assisted living, and children’s recreation when applicable.
- Collect and analyze data on participation outcomes to measure program effectiveness and inform continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including nursing staff, case managers, and family members—to ensure holistic care approaches.
- Maintain detailed documentation of therapy sessions,



progress notes, and case management records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Educate staff and families on the benefits of therapeutic recreation as part of overall wellness strategies.

Recreation Therapy Skills

- Extensive knowledge of dementia care techniques and senior care best practices.
- Robust understanding of medical terminology relevant to healthcare settings.
- Proven experience in case management within healthcare or assisted living environments.
- Familiarity with assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospice care settings, or similar environments.
- Experience working with seniors in therapeutic or recreational contexts is highly desirable.
- Skilled in data collection methods to track client progress and program success metrics.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families.
