Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and organizing supplies for patient procedures
- Assist dentists during exams and treatments by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing patient comfort
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using CAD (computer-aided design) technology when necessary
- Manage patient records accurately using dental software such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring all information is current and complete
- Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and answering inquiries
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing health
- Support orthodontic procedures by assisting with braces adjustments and related treatments for orthodontic patients
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Dentrix and Epic for scheduling, record keeping, and billing
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics to communicate effectively with patients and team members
- Experience in dental assisting with a focus on pediatric dentistry or orthodontics preferred
- Familiarity with CAD technology used in digital imaging and treatment planning
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy clinic environment
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear instructions to patients of all ages and backgrounds
