BARRIERBOSS Fencing

West Kelowna

About the job

BarrierBoss is a family-owned manufacturer in West Kelowna. We build metal fencing, roofing and siding, and we deliver it on our own trucks — we don’t hand it off at the door. That makes your floor the last place a mistake can be caught for free.

We’re hiring a hands-on Production Manager to run both shops: the assembled side, where panels and gates are built up complete and ready to stand, and the loose side, where flat-packed orders are cut, picked and staged for the customer to assemble on site. Two shops, one crew, one schedule — keeping them balanced is the heart of the job.

You’ll report to the owner, and you’ll have real authority over how the floor runs.

What you’ll own

- Hit the schedule. Plan and run daily production across both shops so every order is built and staged for the truck it’s booked on. A panel finished the day after its truck leaves is a panel that didn’t get made.
- Ship it right the first time. Own the quality check at the end of the line — dimensions, hardware counts, finish. A short or wrong order means we go back out to fix it ourselves, so completeness matters as much as craftsmanship.
- Balance the two shops. Move people and work between assembled and loose as the order book shifts, instead of letting one side stall while the other drowns.
- Lead the crew. Hire, train, assign and hold standards. Build the kind of shop where good people stay through the winter.
- Keep it safe. Run the floor to WorkSafeBC standards — lifting, forklift traffic, saws, press and roll-forming equipment,

and housekeeping that doesn’t slip when things get busy.
- Keep the machines running. Spot a tooling, feed or setup problem early, make the call to fix or work around it, and keep basic preventive maintenance on a schedule.
- Make it better each month. Find the bottleneck, change one thing, measure it. Jigs, staging layout, cut sequence, pick order — small changes that take minutes out of every unit.
- Keep stock honest. Flag what’s running short before it stops the line, and keep counts accurate enough to trust.

What we’re looking for

- Supervisory or lead-hand experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, metal or millwork shop
- Mechanically robust — comfortable around saws, presses, roll formers and forklifts, and able to diagnose a problem rather than wait for someone else to
- Can read a production schedule, a cut list and a load plan, and is comfortable working off a screen as well as a tape measure
- A strong organizer who stays level when priorities move mid-shift — ours do
- A leader people want to work for, who trains rather than just tells

Forklift and first-aid tickets are an asset; we’ll certify the right person. Experience with powder-coated product and sheet metal handling is a plus.

What we offer

Year-round work with no layoff season, a stable order book, equipment that gets reinvested in, an owner who’s on the floor — and a real say in how both shops run.

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Benefits:

- Casual dress
- Dental care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
- Paid time off

Work Location: In person
