Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Projects and Planning, the Policy and Issues Analyst provides policy research and issue analysis and resolution support to advance system transformation and integration in Alberta's mental health and addiction sector.

The role works across policy, operational, governance and service-delivery boundaries and provides versatile research, issues-management and project capacity across the System Transformation and Agency Oversight unit.

Key responsibilities include: Conducting focused policy research, jurisdictional reviews, environmental scans and evidence synthesis on mental health and addiction system priorities.

Assessing how broader health system initiatives, decisions and structures may affect mental health and addiction mandates, services, accountabilities and outcomes.

Investigating complex,



longstanding or emerging issues and developing practical resolution pathways that identify options, risks, trade-offs, sequencing and matters requiring management direction.

Gathering and reconciling information from ministry areas, Recovery Alberta, health system organizations, other ministries, agencies and sector partners.

Preparing concise, executive-ready briefing notes, decision documents, presentations, speaking points, issue summaries and correspondence.

Translating complex system information into transparent analysis that supports executive participation in cross-ministry and health system discussions.

Coordinating input from subject-matter experts and partners, validating facts, tracking decisions and dependencies, and escalating issues when additional direction is required.

Providing versatile policy, research, project coordination and issues-management support in response to changing priorities and workload pressures.
