Ultraly is building the infrastructure that turns transaction and customer data into structured, regulator ready reports, validated, transformed, and submitted through an external reporting API, with full audit history preserved along the way.

This service needs to be independently deployable and built to integrate into our main platform through APIs and events over time. It handles sensitive financial and identity data, so security, auditability, and operational reliability are core requirements, not an afterthought.

We've prepared a detailed technical requirements document. Qualified candidates or teams will receive it before preparing a final estimate.

What you'll be responsible for

- Review the supplied requirements and validate the proposed architecture and scope
- Design a reliable data model for transactions, parties, accounts, and report context
- Design and document a public REST API
- Build validation and transformation logic against external structured schemas
- Return clear, field level errors and remediation guidance
- Implement authentication, idempotency, durable job processing, and reconciliation, so network failures never create duplicate filings
- Preserve submission history, acknowledgements, and audit records securely




- Ensure sensitive data never appears in application logs
- Provide automated testing across units, integration, resilience, and security
- Deliver deployment, monitoring, and operational documentation
- Complete a technical handover to our engineering team

Required experience

- Senior level backend engineering experience delivering production APIs
- Strong REST and OpenAPI design skills
- Experience with complex JSON data models and schema validation
- Experience integrating with token based external APIs
- Strong knowledge of idempotency, durable jobs, retries, and distributed system failure modes
- Experience with PostgreSQL or an equivalent transactional database
- Experience with Docker
- Experience protecting sensitive financial or regulated data
- Strong automated testing and documentation practices

Preferred experience

- Java and Spring Boot experience
- Experience with bulk submission, async processing, and partial batch handling
- Experience working alongside compliance officers or legal/domain specialists
- Background in fintech, regtech, or systems handling regulated data
