WORK SUMMARY

Performs all assigned duties including operation of Public Works vehicles, machinery, utility and labour work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Supervisor:

- Perform a wide range of intensive and skilled mechanical, maintenance, and construction work, often under challenging environmental and other work conditions.
- Operates trucks and other equipment.
- Works on water main transmission lines, laterals, hydrants and reservoirs.
- Works on storm and sanitary transmission lines, laterals, lift stations and lagoons.
- Performs all work assigned including streets and labour work.
- Must be dependable, flexible, co-operative, and willing to take on the job training and any courses required as regulated by the Town of Saint Andrews.
- Available for call outs and overtime work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education, Experience and Requirements

- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum Class 5E licence (with air brakes endorsement) required. Must obtain a Class 3E licence within one year of completing in-house training if hired permenately
- Experience working in a Municipal Public Works Department or related fields will be considered an asset.

2. Key Skills / Accountabilities





- Ability to work without supervision once the task has been outlined by lead hand or Public Works Supervisor.
- Notify lead hand or Public Works Supervisor of operational problems or issues as necessary.
- Communicate effectively in a team setting, sharing information to complete work assignments.
