About Us

Dakota Prep is building the future of skilled trades education. We create modern, AI-powered tools that help electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople learn the trade, pass licensing exams, renew their licenses, earn certifications, and move forward in their careers.

So far, we’ve supported more than 20,000 learners across 80+ schools, unions, and training programs in the U.S. and Canada. We work directly with individual students and with the institutions that train them.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Operations Manager, Education to own and scale our education content, course development, and learning operations.

In this role, you’ll build the systems behind our curriculum, exam prep, and learning experiences, and you’ll lead the launch of new courses. These include:

- License renewal / continuing education (CE) courses for working electricians
- Entry-level fundamentals courses, such as Electrical Fundamentals for people preparing to enter an apprenticeship
- Interactive, lab-based courses that use simulations and hands-on exercises to teach practical skills

You’ll work closely with subject-matter experts, content creators, and our product and engineering team to improve quality, speed, and consistency across everything we ship. This is a hands-on builder role for someone who likes turning messy processes into clean, scalable systems, and who wants to take new courses from idea to launch. You’ll report directly to the Founder.

- Develop entry-level and pre-apprenticeship courses that give new learners a strong foundation in electrical theory, safety, tools, and code basics
- Partner with product and engineering to design interactive courses with labs, simulations, and hands-on exercises

- Define learning objectives, course structure, and assessments so that each course achieves measurable outcomes

Content operations and AI workflows

- Build and manage end-to-end AI workflows for curriculum, exam questions, and learning content
- Coordinate with subject-matter experts to turn technical knowledge into clear, structured learning materials
- Design and maintain quality control systems for accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Improve content production speed through better processes, tooling, and AI workflows
- Own content updates as codes, exams, and standards change, including NEC code cycles and CE requirements
- Organize and maintain our education library, question banks, and course catalog

Measurement and collaboration

- Track metrics on learning outcomes, course completion, content output, and user feedback
- Work cross-functionally with product and engineering to support new education features

What You’ll Bring

- 2+ years of experience in consulting, operations, instructional design, or a startup environment
- Experience using LLMs and writing AI prompts that support repeatable, scalable workflows
- Strong ability to design systems and improve messy processes
- Comfort owning both strategy and execution
- Experience working with subject-matter experts or technical content
- Explicit written and verbal communication
- Strong organizational and project ownership skills
- A genuine interest in education, learning, or skills training
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment

Nice to Have

- Experience building online courses, or a background in instructional design or curriculum development
- Familiarity with continuing education requirements or course accreditation processes
- Experience with interactive learning formats such as simulations, virtual labs, or scenario-based training
- Exposure to the electrical or other skilled trades, or to the NEC

Why Join

- Flexible, remote-friendly role
- High ownership and growth opportunity
- Real impact on trades education
- Help shape modern learning tools and launch new courses from the ground up
