Advance your leadership impact at Peel

Housing is fundamental to the health, safety and well-being of our community. As Peel responds to increasing housing pressures, changing community needs and the complexity of homelessness, this role offers an important opportunity to apply your leadership experience in one of the organization’s most significant service portfolios.

As Senior Director, Housing Services, you will lead Peel’s affordable housing system and advance the work of the Peel Housing and Homelessness Plan. Reporting to the Commissioner of Human Services and serving as a member of the Human Services Leadership Team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Housing Services and act as Peel’s designated Service Manager for the affordable housing system.

This opportunity provides the chance to build on your knowledge of Peel, strengthen connections across the organization and expand your impact on services that directly affect residents and communities. Working with internal teams, community partners, housing providers and all levels of government, you will help shape sustainable, equitable and responsive housing solutions that contribute to a Community for Life.

What you will do

You will:

- Lead the development, implementation and continued evolution of the Peel Housing and Homelessness Plan, responding to the changing needs of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and low- and middle-income households unable to access affordable housing in the private market.
- Provide strategic oversight for housing system planning, street outreach, emergency shelters, transitional housing, financial assistance, case management, community housing, landlord partnerships, asset management and housing development.
- Lead a complex portfolio with approximately 207 employees, annual operating expenditures of approximately $402.4 million and a capital plan exceeding $1.53billion over 10 years.
- Provide oversight and foster strong relationships with community housing providers, Peel Housing Corporation, private landlords, service providers and community partners.
- Advance housing development initiatives and programs that increase the supply of affordable and supportive housing across Peel.
- Work across departments and divisions to align housing priorities with broader organizational and community outcomes.
- Build collaborative relationships with municipal, provincial and federal partners to advocate for Peel’s housing priorities, influence policy and secure required resources.
- Represent Peel in public, community and government forums, communicating complex housing issues and ensuring the experiences and needs of residents inform decisions.
- Provide timely advice and recommendations to the Commissioner, Executive Leadership Team and Regional Council on emerging issues, risks, opportunities and strategic priorities.
- Oversee operating and capital budgets through sound financial stewardship, transparent decision-making and outcome-based planning.
- Respond to complex and sensitive political, community, client and stakeholder matters with sound judgement, care and accountability.
- Use data, evidence and resident experiences to measure results, strengthen accountability and continuously improve services.
- Lead through change and ambiguity, balancing immediate operational pressures with long-term housing system transformation.

financial stewardship and results.
