We are recruiting 57 experienced TIG Welders on contract for our client based in Alrode, Alberton.

BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION

TIG welding of 3 inch (approx. 89 mm outside diameter) stainless steel pipes. Producing clean, solid, high-quality welds to the standard required in food, brewery, dairy, pharmaceutical, chemical and power station environments. Purging the inside of the pipe with argon gas to protect the weld root from burning and oxidation. Working accurately and to the required quality standards, in line with site health and safety rules.

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Completed and passed trade test (qualified welder) proof of trade test certificate required.




- Proven experience in TIG welding on stainless steel pipes general welding experience alone is not sufficient.
- Practical experience with argon back purging on stainless steel pipes.
- Pipe welding experience is essential candidates with only flat plate, sheet metal or general fabrication experience will not be considered.

PRACTICAL WELDING TEST

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical TIG welding test on 3 inch stainless steel pipe. The test piece will be cut open and inspected, including the inside of the weld.
