Qualifications – Ontario Healthcare Facility
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse
Minimum 2 years of relevant Long-Term Care experience
Current BLS/CPR certification
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the last 6 months
Availability to work Friday–Monday, including holidays
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: 3 months + possibility of extension

Responsibilities:
Registered Practical Nurses are required to adhere to the scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Provide nursing care to residents in accordance with individualized care plans
Conduct resident assessments and monitor changes in health status
Administer medications and treatments within scope of practice
Collaborate with RNs, PSWs, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team
Support residents with ongoing chronic and complex care needs
Maintain accurate resident documentation and clinical records
Communicate changes in resident condition to the appropriate healthcare specialists and family members




Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and long-term care standards

Note: Duties may vary slightly based on facility and shift, with specific guidance provided during site orientation.

Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant Canadian Long-Term Care experience required
Experience caring for residents with complex and chronic health conditions
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong clinical judgment and adaptability in a long-term care setting

Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Robust attention to detail for accurate documentation and medication administration
Compassion and empathy when supporting residents and families
Ability to work effectively on weekends and holidays
