Heavy Equipment Excavator Operator

Job Summary

We are currently hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Excavator Operator to join our underground construction team in Ontario. The successful candidate will operate excavators safely and efficiently on sewer, watermain, excavation, and site servicing projects.

The ideal applicant has experience working around underground utilities, trenching operations, and grading, with a robust commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities
Operate excavators for trenching, digging, backfilling, grading, and pipe installation
Work closely with pipe layers, forepersons, and ground crews
Follow site plans, grade stakes, and utility locates
Safely excavate around existing underground services and structures
Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently at all times
Assist with loading trucks, lifting materials, and site preparation
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Follow all company and Ontario health & safety regulations





Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years of excavator operating experience in construction or underground servicing
Experience with sewer, storm, and watermain projects considered a solid asset
Ability to operate various sizes of excavators safely and accurately
Knowledge of trench safety and underground utility practices
Ability to read grades and follow site instructions
Solid communication and teamwork skills
Valid Ontario driver’s licence required
