St. Joseph Catholic School is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Middle School Literature Teacher to join our middle school team for approximately four to six weeks beginning at the end of October. The long-term substitute will provide literature instruction to middle school students while maintaining continuity of learning, established classroom routines, and a positive and supportive classroom environment. The substitute will work closely with our middle school team and school administration throughout the assignment.

Primary Responsibilities

- Deliver middle school literature instruction using established curriculum, lesson plans, and learning objectives
- Guide students in reading, comprehension, literary analysis, discussion, and response to literature
- Prepare for and facilitate engaging, age appropriate lessons and learning activities
- Maintain established classroom expectations, routines, and procedures
- Assess student learning and provide appropriate feedback
- Communicate with students, families, colleagues, and administration as needed
- Collaborate with the middle school teaching team to support student learning and schoolwide expectations
- Supervise students and fulfill other typical teacher responsibilities during the school day
- Support the Catholic mission, values, and community of St. Joseph Catholic School

Qualifications





- Valid teaching certificate required
- Experience teaching middle school students preferred
- Literature, English Language Arts, or humanities teaching experience strongly preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to engage students in meaningful reading, discussion, and analysis
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment
- Willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: Starting at $180 per day starting. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

Benefits: This is a temporary long term substitute teaching position and is not eligible for the comprehensive benefits package offered to regular full time employees. Advantages and paid leave, if applicable, are provided in accordance with school and Archdiocesan policies and applicable law.
