Job Overview

This role involves supporting a 16 year old client on the autism spectrum to explore and socially engage in the community. It is designed to promote independence, well-being and confidence while taking part in activities of interest. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a caring attitude, and experience working in special education or with individuals with ASD.

This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life while developing valuable qualified skills.

Duties
Support client in participating in community activities and social engagements.
Communicate effectively with client while supporting their ability to socially interact in public settings (restaurants, beach, volunteering, public transit).
Plan and implement activities that promote life skills development.
Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive relationship.




Collaborate with family members to plan outings and activities.

Experience
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities/ASD in a supportive or caregiving role (or lived experience with a family member)
Knowledge of special education principles
Robust communication skills
Compassionate attitude with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
Must have reliable vehicle
Must be able to provide a transparent criminal record check and drivers abstract
