Mainframe NATURAL / ADABAS Developer Location: Canada – Remote Duration: 6 Months Work Model: 100% Remote Required Skills – Maximum 6 NATURAL Programming: Strong hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications using NATURAL . ADABAS: Extensive experience with ADABAS database , including application development, data access, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Mainframe Technologies: Solid experience working in mainframe environments with a good understanding of mainframe architecture and application operations.

Application Maintenance & Production Support: Proven experience supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing mainframe applications and handling day-to-day production operations. DB2 / COBOL: Working knowledge of DB2 and preferably COBOL in a mainframe environment.

Analysis & Stakeholder Communication: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills – Maximum 3 COBOL development experience in addition to NATURAL/ADABAS.

Experience supporting healthcare industry mainframe applications .

Strong experience with production support, incident troubleshooting, and application modernization/enhancement in legacy mainframe environments.

Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, enhance,



and troubleshoot NATURAL applications running in a mainframe setting.

Design and support applications using ADABAS , including database queries, data access, updates, and troubleshooting.

Perform production support and day-to-day operational activities , including incident investigation and issue resolution.

Analyze existing legacy applications and implement enhancements, fixes, and change requests based on business requirements.

Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions .

Troubleshoot application and database issues across NATURAL, ADABAS, and DB2 environments.

Perform impact analysis, coding, unit testing, debugging, and deployment support for application changes.

Collaborate with business analysts, application teams, database teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders.

Support production releases, maintenance activities, and post-deployment validation .

Document technical solutions, application changes, procedures, and operational processes.

Monitor application performance and proactively identify and resolve recurring production issues.

Participate in root-cause analysis and recommend solutions to improve application stability.

Follow established mainframe development, testing, change-management, and production-support processes .

Support knowledge transfer and maintain documentation for legacy NATURAL/ADABAS applications .
