Seasonal Sidewalk Crew Member

Schedule: On-call, based on snowfall and weather conditions

We are looking for a reliable Seasonal Sidewalk Crew Member to join our team for a 5-month winter contract. This position is responsible for helping keep sidewalks, walkways, stairs, entrances, and other pedestrian areas clear of snow and ice throughout the winter season.

This is an on-call position, and flexible availability is required throughout the winter season. Work hours are dependent on snowfall and weather conditions and may include early mornings, evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be prepared to report to work when snow and ice removal services are required.

This is a physically active, outdoor position that requires working in cold and changing winter weather conditions. The ideal candidate is dependable, comfortable with physical work, and able to respond to changing weather conditions.

Duties

- Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, stairs, entrances, and other designated pedestrian areas.
- Operate snow removal equipment such as shovels, snow blowers, and salt spreaders.
- Apply salt or other de-icing materials as required to help reduce ice buildup and slip hazards.




- Safely use hand tools and power equipment associated with sidewalk snow removal.
- Work alongside other crew members to ensure assigned properties are cleared efficiently and thoroughly.
- Follow safe work practices while working in cold, snowy, and icy conditions.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in snow removal, landscaping, construction, or outdoor maintenance is an asset but not required.
- Must have reliable on-call availability and be able to work as required based on snowfall and weather conditions.
- Comfortable using hand tools and outdoor power equipment; training can be provided where necessary.
- Able to work outdoors for extended periods in cold and changing winter weather conditions.
- Physically capable of prolonged shovelling, lifting, bending, walking, and other manual tasks.
- Able to lift up to 50–75 lbs when required.
- Reliable and able to work safely both independently and as part of a crew.
- A valid driver's licence is preferred but not required. Transportation between work locations can be discussed.
