Job Description

Cornerstone College of Alberta is seeking a knowledgeable and student-focused Medical Assistant Instructor to deliver practical healthcare and medical administration education.

The ideal candidate will have relevant healthcare or medical office experience and be able to translate real-world knowledge into clear, engaging lessons for adult learners.

Responsibilities

- Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction in medical assisting and related healthcare subjects.
- Teach medical terminology, anatomy and physiology fundamentals, infection prevention, patient communication and medical office procedures.
- Provide instruction on patient intake, appointment coordination, healthcare documentation, confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Demonstrate appropriate clinical and administrative techniques within the scope of the course.
- Prepare lesson plans, presentations, assignments and student assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Support students in developing practical workplace skills and confidence.




- Maintain accurate attendance, grading and academic records.
- Ensure teaching follows applicable professional, safety and institutional standards.
- Work with academic administrators to improve instructional materials and course delivery.

Qualifications

- Relevant diploma, degree or professional training in Medical Assisting, Nursing, Allied Health, Medical Office Administration or a related field.
- Relevant clinical, medical office or healthcare administration experience.
- Strong communication, organizational and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain medical terminology and healthcare procedures clearly.
- Ability to deliver both theoretical lessons and practical demonstrations.

Preferred:

- Previous experience teaching, training or mentoring adult learners.
- Current professional registration or certification where applicable.
- Experience with medical office systems, patient records, scheduling and clinical administrative processes.
- Experience preparing lesson plans and assessments.
