Job Overview

Provide senior technical leadership for enterprise platform engineering, defining infrastructure automation, CI/CD, container and self-service standards. Govern implementation quality, resolve complex technical issues and enable development teams to deliver secure, compliant solutions efficiently. Collaborate with Platform Engineering leadership, SRE, Release Governance, Security, Infrastructure and Architecture.

Role and Responsibilities

- Design platform standards for Azure Bicep and Terraform modules, pipeline templates, containers, runtime policies, self-service guardrails, APIM and service catalogs.
- Review and approve platform implementations before production or organization-wide adoption; provide structured feedback and mentor the Platform Engineer.
- Govern reusable IaC libraries and on-demand provisioning; embed network, identity, security and compliance controls with Infrastructure and Security.
- Define version-controlled, peer-reviewed workplace standards across development, integration, staging, production and disaster recovery; resolve systemic provisioning failures and configuration drift.
- Design CI/CD template architecture, quality gates, security scanning, artifact management and release controls; align pipeline-as-code with change management requirements.
- Resolve complex pipeline failures and adoption blockers through root-cause analysis and permanent fixes; act as the senior technical escalation point.
- Lead migration from legacy provisioning approaches, defining success criteria and minimizing disruption to development teams.
- Track deployment frequency, release lead time, provisioning time, adoption, pipeline availability and training time-to-productivity; drive measurable improvement.
- Create enablement paths, reference implementations,



documentation and knowledge-sharing sessions that build independent team capability.
- Lead proofs of concept and build-versus-buy evaluations covering technical fit, adoption, risk and total cost; maintain improvement priorities and contribute to the technology radar.

Core Technical Proficiencies

- Expert Azure Bicep and Terraform architecture, modular IaC, policy-as-code and enterprise self-service provisioning.
- Deep Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions pipeline architecture, template frameworks, quality gates, artifact management and release governance.
- Container orchestration, base image governance, runtime policies, workload portability, APIM, service catalogs and observability integration.
- Advanced Python and PowerShell automation; security-by-design covering networking, identity, secrets and compliance scanning.

Critical Mindset Skills

- Balance developer experience, security, compliance, cost and maintainability; assess organization-wide impacts, document trade-offs and make independent architectural judgments.

Essential Soft Skills

- Communicate standards clearly to technical and business audiences; collaborate across functions, present defensible recommendations and coach engineers with actionable feedback.

Preferred Skills

- Junior engineer mentoring, financial sector experience and familiarity with FSRA, OSFI and PCI-DSS; relevant Azure,



Terraform or Kubernetes certifications.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

- Computer Science degree or acceptable equivalent qualifications.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in platform engineering, DevOps or infrastructure automation in a complex enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated architectural experience with Azure Bicep or Terraform module libraries, policy governance and enterprise on-demand provisioning.
- Experience designing Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions pipeline architecture, pipeline-as-code, templates, quality gates, artifacts and release controls.
- Experience governing container and runtime platforms, APIM architecture, internal developer portals or service catalogs, and platform technology proofs of concept.
- Working knowledge of ITIL and financial services regulatory requirements relevant to platform engineering and technology delivery.

Pay: $130,000.00-$145,000.00 per year
