Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented General Machinist to join our manufacturing client in Brampton, Ontario.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC machining equipment to manufacture high-precision metal parts and components according to engineering specifications.

This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on machining experience, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.

Security Requirement: Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents to meet the company's stated CGRP/defence project requirements.

Responsibilities

- Set up and operate manual machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, centreless grinding machines, and induction hardening equipment.
- Set up and operate CNC-controlled machinery, including CNC lathes and milling machines, to manufacture precision components.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, CAD files, and machining specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other metric and imperial measuring devices.
- Perform manual assembly, disassembly, and testing of mechanical components according to engineering specifications.




- Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of machinery, tools, and dies.
- Follow company safety procedures and support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Assist with welding, fabrication, and forklift operations when required and appropriately trained.

Skills

- Minimum 5 years of practical machining experience preferred; candidates with 3+ years of relevant experience will be considered.
- Robust hands-on experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining equipment.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and Fanuc or Mazatrol controls is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and machining specifications.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Brampton, Ontario.
- Must successfully complete a background check.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
