Staff Accountant - Contract - 12 months

Our client is part of a specialized group of manufacturers serving the municipal, road building, paving, aggregate, and industrial sectors. They are looking for a Staff Accountant to join the finance team on a temporary contract covering a maternity leave. You will work closely with the Assistant Controller and play a hands-on role in the monthly close and reporting cycle.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense entries
- Complete GL, bank, and intercompany reconciliations
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities




- Help prepare financial statements and reporting packages
- Track and reconcile inventory and equipment financing records
- Assist with audits and compliance reporting
- Provide backup support to AP, AR, and payroll as needed
- Contribute to process improvements and special projects
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- ERP or accounting system experience preferred
- CPA designation, or progress toward it, is an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
