A manufacturing company in Sarnia, Ontario is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on leadership role and wants to be involved across all areas of the accounting function. The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department and full cycle payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and excellent internal and external customer service.

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 annually

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on daily responsibilities, professional development, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Assist with credit and collections activities.
- Become fully cross-trained in all aspects of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Maintain the company's fixed asset records.
- Assist the Controller with the preparation and review of financial statements, reports, quarterly forecasts, and budgets in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare financial planning and analysis reports to support decision-making and achievement of budget and strategic objectives.
- Assist the Controller with internal and external audits, including providing required documentation and support.
- Perform monthly reconciliations and assist with the month-end closing process.




- Perform payroll duties as required, including bi-weekly payroll processing, CPP and EI remittances, T4s, ROEs, and other statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues and improve accounting processes.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Proven accounting or finance, and payroll experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience with payroll administration, employee benefit plans, and RPP pension plans.
- Experience using ADP for payroll
- Experience with full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Robust understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

- This is primarily a computer-based position, with flexibility to work seated or standing.
