We are seeking a reliable, adaptable and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide casual relief coverage in a busy family medicine practice in North Bay.

This position is ideal for a nurse seeking flexible, occasional work. Shifts may range from a single day to several consecutive days or weeks, depending on clinic needs.

Availability for short-notice, including same-day, coverage is a significant asset. Work is offered on an as-needed basis, and the number of shifts will vary according to staffing requirements.

Responsibilities

- Support the daily operations of a family medicine clinic and provide safe, patient-centred nursing care.
- Assist physician with patient assessments, examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories and other relevant clinical information.
- Administer immunizations
- Perform nursing procedures, such as ear flushing, suture and staple removal
- Provide patient education and reinforce care plans, preventive health recommendations and follow-up instructions.
- Assist with chronic disease monitoring, preventive care and routine health maintenance.
- Respond to patient telephone inquiries and support clinical triage using established protocols and physician direction.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential electronic medical records.
- Support prescription requests, laboratory and diagnostic follow-up, referrals and other clinical administrative tasks.
- Maintain infection prevention and control standards and ensure clinical supplies and equipment are ready for use.




- Work collaboratively with the physician and administrative staff to maintain efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications

- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN or RPN.
- A satisfactory policy record check, including a vulnerable sectors check to be provided prior to the commencement of employment
- Strong computer skills are required, including accurate electronic documentation and the ability to learn clinic-specific software.
- Experience with PS Suite EMR is a significant asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated clinical judgment, professionalism, discretion and commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt quickly to clinic workflows and work independently within the nurse's scope of practice.
- Availability to accept occasional shifts with short notice is highly desirable.What we offer
