Overview
The Whitecourt and District Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Library Assistant specializing in Community Programs, Outreach and Social Media. This position focuses on developing and delivering engaging programs for Whitecourt and Woodlands County residents, supporting advanced learning initiatives, and working with emerging technologies, teaching classes and creating content for social media.

Responsibilities

- Plan, develop, and deliver community programs
- Support digital literacy initiatives, including teaching classes on emerging technologies
- Assist patrons with technology, computers, devices, and digital resources
- Provide hands-on support digital learners
- Deliver friendly, inclusive, and respectful front-line customer service
- Perform circulation duties and general library tasks
- Plan and execute outreach activities and special events
- Work collaboratively with library staff

Skills and Qualifications

- Possess a High School Diploma or GED. Additional Post Secondary Education an asset




- Experience working with all ages of our communities in a public service role
- Interest in or experience with digital literacy, technology, or makerspaces
- Experience emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence
- Solid communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Library experience is an asset but not required
- Hours of work will be a mix of days, evenings and Saturdays.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 per week
