**Job Title: General Laborer**

**Job Description**

This role offers hands-on involvement in machinery moving, demolition, forklift operation, and material handling across a wide variety of projects in Calgary.

You start with yard clean-up and light demolition work, including drywall removal, and progress to downtown and plant projects where you use power tools and support complex moves such as plant, warehouse, conveyor, and escalator relocations.

**Responsibilities**

+ Perform general labor duties including yard clean-up, site housekeeping, and debris removal.
+ Support machinery moving projects, including plant moves, warehouse moves, conveyor moves, and escalator moves.
+ Assist with demolition work such as light demo tasks and drywall removal while maintaining a safe and organized work area.
+ Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, when certified and authorized, to move and load materials safely.
+ Participate in rigging and material handling activities, including jack and roll operations and the use of gantries, under direction of experienced team members.
+ Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively for construction, demolition, and moving tasks.
+ Perform torch cutting when trained and authorized, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
+ Lift and move heavy materials and equipment, frequently handling loads of 60+ lbs as part of daily duties.
+ Drive to various project sites around the city and region, using a personal or company vehicle, and follow all traffic and safety regulations.
+ Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members using verbal instructions and hand signals to coordinate moves and ensure safe operations.
+ Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and adherence to WHMIS and CSTS requirements.
+ Work 10-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend work as needed to meet project schedules.
+ Collaborate with a team of laborers and tradespeople to complete projects efficiently and on time.
+ Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition, reporting any issues or hazards promptly.

**Work Environment**

The work takes place on unique projects around Calgary, including plant moves, warehouse relocations, conveyor installations, and escalator moves, as well as downtown and plant sites.

The company is based out of Calgary and Edmonton and operates with a team of around 60 staff in Calgary, primarily laborers working in the field.

You work 10-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday starting at 7:00 AM until the work is completed, with overtime and weekend shifts as needed to meet project demands.

The environment is industrial and construction-focused, with frequent use of power tools, forklifts, rigging equipment, gantries, and torch cutting tools.

Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including a hard hat, steel toe boots, high-visibility vest, and safety glasses.

The role is physically demanding, involves regular heavy lifting, and requires comfort working both indoors and outdoors in varying site conditions.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.

**Pay and Perks**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
