**Job Title: Machine Operator (AM Shift)**

**Job Description**

The Machine Operator (AM Shift) sets up, operates, and shuts down production equipment in a fast-paced refrigerated food manufacturing facility.

This role focuses on safe and efficient machine operation, ensuring products meet strict quality standards while maintaining accurate production documentation.

The position involves working with various foods, including raw and cooked meat, and requires regular lifting, pushing, and standing throughout the shift.

**Responsibilities**

+ Assemble and disassemble production equipment at start and end of each shift to ensure machines are properly set up and safely shut down.
+ Operate production machines safely and efficiently to meet daily output and performance targets.
+ Monitor production processes and ensure finished goods consistently meet prescribed quality standards.
+ Perform necessary adjustments on machines to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
+ Accurately complete all required production paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
+ Work with various food products, including raw and cooked meat, in compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
+ Push a 200-kg bin of apple roll filling without wheels for short distances (approximately 12 meters) to reach the cabin plant.
+ Push a 200-kg bin with wheels across multiple departments to reach the batter room.
+ Lift items up to 40 lbs, including repetitive lifting as needed during production activities.
+ Stand for up to 8 hours per shift while working on the production floor.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all facility safety and sanitation procedures.
+ Follow all standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality guidelines related to food manufacturing.
+ Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve issues.
+ Support a collaborative, fast-paced environment by working cooperatively with peers and leading by example.
+ Adhere to all facility rules related to personal protective equipment, dress code, and food safety requirements.

**Essential Skills**

+ Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn and operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
+ Able to lift up to 40 lbs, including repetitive lifting when required.
+ Able to stand for up to 8 hours per shift on the production floor.
+ Comfortable working in refrigerated temperatures of approximately 810 degrees Celsius.
+ Good English communication skills, both verbal and written, to follow instructions and complete production paperwork.
+ Comfortable working with raw and cooked meat and in a food manufacturing, food production, beverage manufacturing, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
+ Strong attention to detail to ensure products meet quality standards and documentation is accurate.
+ Ability to follow safety, quality, and hygiene procedures consistently.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Previous experience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is an asset.
+ Prior machine operating experience in a production or manufacturing environment is an asset.

**Work Environment**

This role is based in a busy food manufacturing facility with numerous conveyors and continuously running machinery, creating a very fast-paced production environment.

The primary work location includes production floors and warehouse areas maintained at approximately 810 degrees Celsius, as well as multiple cooler rooms around 0 degrees and freezer rooms at approximately -18 degrees.

Work takes place in a no-nut facility, which is important for individuals with nut allergies.

The standard shift runs from 5:15 AM to 1:45 PM, Monday to Friday, with overtime on Saturdays and/or Sundays often required to meet production demands.

Employees work with various food products, including raw and cooked meat, and are expected to follow strict food safety and hygiene procedures.

The dress code requires steel-toe work boots and prohibits jewelry, nail polish, fake eyelashes, and similar items to maintain food safety standards.

The setting is highly structured around safety, quality, and continuous production, and employees should be comfortable working in refrigerated conditions and around industrial equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, BC.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
