About Us

Vic West Pet Hospital is a busy, growing small-animal veterinary practice in Victoria. We are looking for an organized and proactive Veterinary Hospital Manager to help lead our teams and oversee the day-to-day operations of our hospital.

Our goal is to provide excellent patient care and client service while maintaining a respectful, efficient, and positive workplace. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well, solves problems, and can help ensure that our hospitals run smoothly even during busy days.

The Role

The Hospital Manager will work closely with the owners and veterinary team to oversee daily clinic operations, staff performance, scheduling, client service, inventory, and administrative systems.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being present on the floor, supporting the team, identifying problems early, and following through until they are resolved.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day operations of the veterinary hospital
- Lead, support, and hold team members accountable to clinic standards
- Coordinate staff scheduling and help maintain appropriate coverage
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Help develop and consistently implement clinic policies and workflows
- Monitor patient and client flow and address operational bottlenecks
- Handle escalated client concerns professionally and constructively
- Oversee inventory, ordering, and relationships with suppliers
- Monitor staff attendance, vacation requests, and time-off scheduling
- Conduct regular team meetings and communicate operational updates
- Maintain accurate administrative records and ensure important tasks are completed
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions
- Work closely with ownership on staffing, clinic performance, and ongoing growth
- Help maintain a qualified, organized, respectful, and positive workplace culture

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, dependable, confident,

and solutions-focused.

You should be comfortable managing people while still treating team members respectfully and fairly.

We are particularly looking for someone who:

- Has previous management, supervisory, or team-lead experience
- Has strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented
- Takes initiative rather than waiting to be directed
- Is comfortable having difficult conversations when necessary
- Can prioritize effectively in a busy environment
- Remains calm when unexpected problems arise
- Holds themselves and others accountable
- Can balance the needs of clients, employees, doctors, and the business
- Is comfortable learning and using veterinary practice-management software
- Has strong computer and administrative skills

Veterinary, medical, dental, or other healthcare management experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with strong management experience from another service-based industry may also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Extended health and dental benefits
- Paid vacation and sick time
- Staff discounts on veterinary services and products
- On-site parking
- Professional development opportunities
- Long-term growth opportunities as our veterinary group continues to expand

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to take a meaningful leadership role in a growing veterinary organization.

You will work directly with ownership and have the ability to influence how our hospitals operate, improve systems, develop our team, and help shape the continued growth of the practices.

We value people who take ownership, communicate openly, treat others with respect, and genuinely want to make the workplace better.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with a short cover letter describing your previous management experience and why you believe you would be a good fit for our veterinary hospitals.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
