Tool & Die Designer - Metal Stamping

Chatham, Ontario | Day Shift | $30-$35/hour | Direct Hire

Our client is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Designer for its Chatham tool shop. This is a day-shift opportunity for someone with practical die-design experience who can work independently, support projects through the build process, and contribute to design improvements as work progresses.

Who this role is for

This opportunity is well suited to a Tool & Die Designer who:

- Has approximately 2-5 years of hands-on Tool & Die Design experience
- Is comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Has experience with 3D design and solid modelling
- Understands die design and customer design standards
- Can work closely with Project Managers as designs move through build
- Is comfortable participating in customer design reviews and follow-up discussions

Experience with metal stamping is highly valued.

What you will be doing

- Design tooling and dies using 3D CAD/CAE software
- Develop and modify solid models to support tooling requirements
- Work with Project Managers throughout the build process
- Incorporate design improvements and lessons learned into subsequent projects
- Troubleshoot design and material-related issues
- Review designs against customer requirements and standards
- Participate in customer design reviews and technical follow-up
- Manage assigned design work with a high degree of independence





What we're looking for

- 2-5 years of Tool & Die Design experience
- Experience with NX or comparable design software
- Strong 3D design and solid modelling capability
- Working knowledge of CAD/CAE design environments
- General knowledge of die design
- Ability to interpret and work to customer design standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Practical problem-solving ability related to tooling, design, and material issues

Nice to have

- Metal stamping experience
- NX experience
- Experience supporting tooling from initial design through build
- Previous customer-facing design review experience

Compensation and schedule

- $30-$35/hour based on relevant experience
- Day shift
- 40 hours per week
- Overtime available as required
- Overtime paid after 40 hours
- Direct Hire opportunity
