Merrick Global Talent is recruiting a Neurologist to join a specialist neurological and musculoskeletal clinic in Edmonton, Alberta.

This is predominantly community-based outpatient Neurology within a multidisciplinary workplace that includes Edmonton's largest community-based electrodiagnostic laboratory for

EMG and nerve conduction studies, alongside Physiatry, Rheumatology, Sports Medicine, Pain Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging and rehabilitation services.

For a Neurologist who enjoys outpatient medicine and close collaboration with related specialties, the structure of the clinic offers considerable scope to develop a busy practice.

The role

You will assess and manage patients across a broad range of neurological presentations while working alongside an established multidisciplinary team.

Your work may include

- Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients with neurological conditions.
- Providing predominantly outpatient specialist consultations.
- Managing referrals across a broad neurological caseload.
- Working closely with an established EMG and nerve conduction service.
- Collaborating with Physiatrists, Rheumatologists, Sports Medicine Physicians and other specialists.
- Accessing diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation services within the wider organisation.
- Directing patients towards appropriate further investigation or treatment.
- Developing areas of particular neurological interest within the practice where appropriate.

The clinic's current Neurology service manages conditions involving the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles and provides access to neurological testing alongside the wider diagnostic service.

Who can apply?

We welcome Canadian-trained Neurologists and physicians already eligible for specialist practice in Alberta.

Internationally trained Neurologists can also be considered where their training and certification fall within one of Alberta's Approved Jurisdictions.

Recognised Neurology pathways currently include eligible specialist training from jurisdictions including:

- United Kingdom
- Ireland
- Australia and New Zealand
- United States
- Singapore
- South Africa
- Switzerland

For example, recognised UK Neurology training falls within the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Joint Committee on Higher Medical Training pathway. Ireland, Australia, the United States and the other approved jurisdictions each have their own recognised training and certification requirements.

For US physicians, CPSA specifically recognises eligible Neurology certification through the American Board or American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

CPSA will determine whether an individual physician meets the Approved Jurisdiction Route requirements.

Why consider this role?

This is a strong option for a Neurologist who wants to practise within a specialist outpatient environment rather than build a career centred on inpatient hospital work.

You will have access to EMG and nerve conduction studies, diagnostic imaging, specialist medical colleagues and rehabilitation services within the wider clinical organisation.

It also creates the opportunity to build a practice around your clinical interests while becoming part of an established neurological and musculoskeletal referral pathway.

For internationally trained Neurologists considering Alberta, Merrick Global Talent will help you understand the CPSA pathway and practical relocation process.
