Job Summary

Bosley's Nanaimo Southgate is seeking a friendly and dedicated Pet Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service while assisting customers with their pet needs and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about animals, enjoys working in a retail environment, has an interest in learning about pet nutrition, and is committed to maintaining a clean and organized store.

Duties

Assist customers in selecting pet products, including food, toys, and accessories

Provide knowledgeable advice on pet care and product usage

Ensure shelves are stocked, faced, organized, and well-maintained

Maintain cleanliness of the store environment, including cleaning displays and work areas

Handle heavy lifting of pet supplies and inventory restocking as needed

Merchandise new products and sale items in an organized and captivating manner

Ensure the safety and well-being of pets in the store when applicable

Requirements

Proven experience in customer service or retail preferred

Passion for animals and general knowledge of pet care products is an asset

Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds,



continuously throughout the day)

Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work appropriately in a team setting as well as independently

Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety protocols

Have open availability for minimum 10 hours per week and up to 20 hours per week as needed

Must be able to work weekends, holidays opening shifts and closing shifts as required

Bosley’s by Pet Valu is a locally focused, community‑oriented pet specialty retailer serving dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. Stores offer premium pet foods, treats, toys, health products, and accessories, supported by trained Animal Care Experts who provide knowledgeable, friendly service. Many locations also offer services such as self‑serve dog wash, grooming, and pet adoption events.

Pay: $18.51 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
