Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, caring, and capable Early Childhood Educator to join our home daycare in North Vancouver, BC. The name of the business is Mommy and Me Before/After School Child Care and we are located just across to Canyon Heights Elementary School.

The successful candidate must be able to independently operate the daycare program for up to 7 children alone. The owner will be present most of the time to assist but mainly this position requires someone who is fully confident and competent to manage all daycare duties independently, including supervision, programming, meals/snacks, toileting support, cleaning related to childcare, transitions, and maintaining a safe and engaging workplace. Another part of this role is assisting with before-school and after-school care, including walking children to Canyon Heights Elementary across the street before school and picking them up at approximately 3:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide nurturing, attentive, and age-appropriate care for children in a home daycare setting
- Independently supervise and manage a group of up to 7 children
- Plan and lead daily activities that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Prepare and serve snacks and meals as required
- Support children with toileting, handwashing, dressing, transitions, and daily routines
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and child-friendly daycare environment
- Follow daycare policies, behaviour guidance practices, and health/safety procedures
- Monitor children at all times and respond appropriately to incidents, illness, or emergencies
- Walk school-aged children safely to Canyon Heights Elementary before school




- Pick up school-aged children from Canyon Heights Elementary at school dismissal time
- Communicate professionally with the owner and families regarding children’s daily care, behaviour, and needs
- Keep accurate daily notes or records if required
- Open and run the daycare day smoothly and responsibly, including when working independently

Candidate Requirements:

- Eligible to work in Canada
- Experience caring for multiple children in a daycare, preschool, nanny, or home childcare environment
- Ability to operate the daycare independently with up to 7 children
- Comfortable walking children to and from the elementary school safely in all appropriate weather conditions
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Physically able to keep up with active children, indoor/outdoor play, lifting, and daily childcare tasks

Qualifications:

- Valid First Aid certification appropriate for child care
- Criminal Record Check suitable for working with children
- Must meet BC requirements to work in licensed child care as a Responsible Adult or a ECE/ECEA credential
- Reference From previous daycare position

Schedule and Breaks

- 2 days per week: Tuesday and Thursday
- 8 working hours per day
- 1 Hour lunch break each day
- Fixed Term Contract

Pay

- $20 Base pay (+$6 from government if you have ECE)

Work Environment

- Private home daycare in North Vancouver, BC
- Small-group childcare setting
- Support from owner on most days, but employee must be capable of working alone
