About the role
Mission X Inc. is a growing technology infrastructure company with operations in Canada and the United States. We're hiring our first in-house Accountant/Bookkeeper. You'll own day-to-day bookkeeping and work with our external CPAs on US and Canadian tax filings. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows cross-border accounting and is comfortable working in both Mandarin and English.

What you'll do
Handle day-to-day bookkeeping: accounts payable and receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and expense coding
Run month-end close and prepare monthly financial reports
Prepare and file GST/HST returns
Manage Canadian payroll remittances and year-end slips (T4s) with our payroll provider
Support US tax work, including sales tax where it applies, payroll tax, 1099s, and federal and state corporate returns with our external CPA
Record USD/CAD transactions, foreign exchange gains and losses, and intercompany entries between our Canadian and US entities
Keep records organized and audit-ready




Communicate with Mandarin-speaking leadership and English-speaking banks, vendors, and advisors
Help build and improve accounting processes as the company grows

Required
Fluent in Mandarin and English, spoken and written
[3+] years of bookkeeping or accounting experience covering both US and Canadian tax
Robust knowledge of GST/HST and Canadian payroll remittances
Working knowledge of US federal and state tax basics
Experience with [QuickBooks Online / Xero] and Excel
Lives in the Greater Toronto Area and can work hybrid
Detail-oriented and able to work independently

Nice to have
CPA (Canada), US CPA, or IRS Enrolled Agent
Experience at a cross-border accounting firm or in a multi-entity company
Experience in tech or a quick-growing company
