As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Business Relation Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values collaboration, accountability, and strong decision-making.

About the Role

Reporting jointly to the Director of Underwriting and the President, the Business Relation Manager (BRM) will be responsible for reviewing and assessing mortgage applications, analyzing credit and lending risk, and providing guidance and support to brokers throughout the lending process.

The BRM will also play a key role in retaining and growing existing broker relationships, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening partnerships with mortgage brokers and agents. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the development of marketing initiatives, presentations, and other materials that support business development and the company’s overall growth.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and confident balancing customer service with sound underwriting practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Review, analyze, and assess residential and construction mortgage applications to determine creditworthiness and overall risk.
- Verify income, assets, credit history, and supporting documentation to ensure applications are complete,



accurate, and compliant with underwriting requirements.
- Make sound lending decisions in accordance with company policies, underwriting guidelines, and risk tolerance.
- Identify and investigate potential fraud, misrepresentation, and unusual activity, escalating concerns when appropriate.
- Clearly and professionally communicate mortgage decisions, conditions, and documentation requirements to brokers and referral partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mortgage brokers and referral partners through responsive communication, knowledgeable guidance, and exceptional service.
- Collaborate closely with Administration, Underwriting and Quality Control to ensure effective and successful closings.
- Consistently meet service-level agreements and turnaround expectations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Contribute to portfolio quality, operational efficiency, and the overall success of the team.
- Support the development and implementation of marketing strategies that respond to evolving client and market needs.
- Identify market opportunities and contribute ideas that enhance the company’s service offering and client experience.

Qualifications & Experience

- Applicants must be currently based in Alberta.




- A minimum of 5 years experience in mortgage and/or lending industry and proven experience in the private mortgage industry
- 3+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, business developing, lending, or credit adjudication
- Strong understanding of residential mortgage underwriting and risk assessment
- Experience with private lending and/or construction financing is considered an asset
- Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- Mortgage Agent License or completion of the Mortgage Agent Course is considered an asset
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Strong analytical skills with sound judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment
