Site Description: The Cape Breton Regional Hospital is located in Sydney and is the regional referral and trauma center for Cape Breton Island.

The Cape Breton Regional is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, Current Waterford Consolidated and Northside General Hospitals.

Position Details: Role: Healthcare Security Officer Site: Cape Breton Regional Hospital Term: Full time Hour: 4 on 4 off; 1900-0700 (overnights) Payrate: $20.50 Key Responsibilities: Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises to ensure the safety and security of the site.

Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.

Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.

Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff, ensuring that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.

Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

Collaboration with Hospital Staff:



Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.

Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards Perform patient watch duties as needed , including continuous observation to ensure safety and prevent harm.

Monitor and report concerns, follow clinical direction, and document accurately.

Prerequisites: Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor) English (oral and written) fluency is a must Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
