Automated Aquatics is seeking a versatile Journeyman or Red Seal Electrician to join our team as a full-time Aquatic Service Technician. This is not a traditional electrical position. We're looking for an open-minded, hands-on generalist - a true jack of all trades - who is interested in applying their electrical background while branching into pump installations, minor plumbing, equipment maintenance, general service work, troubleshooting, and aquatic system installations. The ideal candidate is teachable, practical, and curious, with a genuine willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment and take on tasks outside the typical electrical trade.
Cultural fit is every bit as important as technical ability. Automated Aquatics is a tight-knit team built around honesty, teamwork, innovation, entrepreneurship, kindness, fairness, an extremely high standard of workmanship, and a commitment to always doing right by the client. We are looking for someone who genuinely shares those values and wants to contribute to that culture.
Key Responsibilities As our Aquatic Service Technician, you will be engaged in diverse and challenging tasks, including:
Installing and servicing chemical metering, control systems, and other aquatic equipment
Installing and replacing large pumps, motors, filters, and related equipment for commercial aquatic systems
Performing electrical connections, controls work, and troubleshooting associated with pumps and aquatic equipment
Assisting with minor plumbing and PVC piping work as part of equipment repairs, replacements, and installations
Conducting general pool service, preventative maintenance, equipment maintenance, and service calls

Troubleshooting and repairing complex aquatic systems and assisting with system installations and upgrades
Qualifications Journeyman or Red Seal Electrician trade certification (required)
Other trade tickets, apprenticeships or experience a significant asset
Experience working on swimming pool equipment & systems, or experience working in commercial swimming pools and recreation facilities is a significant asset
Genuine willingness and interest in hands-on work outside the traditional electrical trade, including minor plumbing, mechanical equipment maintenance, and general service work (required)
Experience with pumps, motors, controls, commercial service, swimming pool, or water treatment systems (asset)
AARFP Pool Operator 1 & 2 certificates (asset)
Proficiency in basic computer programs (required)
Ideal Candidate Profile We're seeking an individual who embodies:
Generalist Mindset : Enjoys variety, hands-on work, and solving problems across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and equipment systems
Teachable & Curious : Open to learning new systems, accepting feedback, and expanding their skill set beyond the electrical trade
Independence : Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
Entrepreneurial Spirit : Proactive in identifying opportunities for service improvement and business growth
Culture & Team Fit : Works with honesty, kindness, fairness,

and respect; values collaboration and contributes positively to a close-knit team
Craftsmanship & Client Focus : Takes pride in exceptionally high-quality work and is committed to doing what is right for the client
Adaptability to dynamic situations
Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work across trades
Critical thinking and autonomous problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and attention to detail
Openness to giving and receiving constructive feedback
Capability to work both independently and collaboratively
Project leadership potential
Flexible hours to meet client needs
Approximately 70% in-town work and 30% out-of-town work, including occasional overnight stays
Additional Requirements Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Police and security clearances may be necessary
Wage: $53.43-$68.82 per hour average compensation. Includes a conservative estimate of profit-sharing program
Performance based profit-sharing program
Company vehicle
Health spending account
Team events throughout the year
Join our team and build a career where your electrical expertise is the foundation for a broader technical role in the aquatics industry. Your willingness to learn, solve problems, and work across multiple trades will be crucial - but equally important is how you work. We want someone who takes pride in exceptional workmanship, supports their teammates, treats people fairly and kindly, brings current ideas forward, and consistently does the right thing for the client.
