Ottawa, Ontario Hybrid Full time CA$60,000 a year Posted Oct 5, 2026
Find rental operators, show them RentalTide, and get them signed and live. You own the full cycle, from first call to first booking.
Why this role exists
Today Eric (CRO) handles sales himself, on top of customer success. Switching costs operators nothing: no monthly fee, no setup fee, and the 4.9% booking fee is passed to their customers. That makes for a short sales conversation, and we need someone having a lot more of them.
How you'll sell
Most selling happens by phone and video with operators across North America. Being in Ottawa means you can also visit operators in eastern Ontario and western Quebec, and work boat shows and marina events.
Timing matters. Operators pick software in the off-season so they are ready for summer. Starting this fall puts you in front of them while they are deciding.
What you'll actually do
Build your own pipeline of boat, jet-ski and ATV rental operators by cold calling, email, LinkedIn and walk-ins
Run demos over video and in person, tailored to how each operator actually runs their day
Handle the real objections: "we already have a system", "my staff won't learn it", "not before the season"
Close deals and hand each recent operator to onboarding with clean notes, so their first week goes smoothly
Stay close to your accounts after launch, since your commission grows when they book more
Keep the CRM current so we can see what is working
Tell the product team what operators ask for and what loses us deals
What we're looking for
You have 2+ years selling software, payments or services to small and mid-sized businesses
You like picking up the phone and you don't need a marketing team to hand you leads
You can talk to a marina owner in their dock shoes as easily as a multi-location operator
You want a steady base and income that keeps climbing as you sign more operators
You write clearly and follow up without being reminded
You live in or near Ottawa, and have a driver's licence and access to a car
Nice to haves
Experience in tourism, marine, powersports or outdoor recreation
You speak French, which helps across Gatineau and Quebec
You've sold vertical SaaS or booking software before
How you get paid
You earn a $60,000 CAD base salary, plus 1% of the gross booking value (GMV) processed through RentalTide by every operator you sign. Commission pays on every booking those operators take for 12 months from their first booking, which covers a full rental season. After that, you earn 0.2% on their bookings for 2 more years, as long as you're still on the team. There is no cap.
Your $60,000 base is guaranteed for your first 3 months while you ramp up. After that, it stays at $60,000 as long as you sign at least 6 new operators a quarter (about 2 a month). If you fall short in a quarter, base drops to $45,000 for the next quarter, then goes back to $60,000 once you hit target again.
Real ownership: $5,000 in stock options on day one, plus 0.5% equity in a company that's actually growing.
A year of pay at different paces
Assuming operators average $200,000 in bookings a year:
At target (6 a quarter): $108,000 total. 24 operators signed a year, $4.8M of their GMV in the first 12 months, $48,000 commission.
On top of that, operators past their first year keep paying you 0.2% for 2 more years. At target pace, that adds about $9,600 in year two and $19,200 a year from year three on.
These figures are illustrative, not a promise. Most operators book in summer, so commission lags your signings and your first year will land lower.
