School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is hiring a full-time, 1.0 FTE Grade 3/4 Classroom Teacher at South Nelson Elementary School in Nelson, BC. The term ends December 18, 2026, or upon the incumbent's return, whichever comes first.
Qualifications Bachelor of Education and elementary classroom experience.
Valid BC teaching certificate, or eligibility to be certified by the assignment start date.
Recent successful experience in an elementary multigrade setting.
Knowledge of positive behavioural interventions, trauma-informed practices, inclusion, class profiles, and universal design strategies.
Knowledge of the BC Education Plan, current instructional practices, and curriculum.
Ability to use data to inform decisions and work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community members.




Responsibilities Teach a Grade 3/4 classroom and use technology to support student learning.
Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with staff and parents.
Implement school-wide strategies to support student needs.
Use authentic assessment strategies and participate in ongoing career development.
Engage students in meaningful community service and contribute to school and district initiatives.
Compensation $68,589-114,833 per year, based on qualifications and teaching experience as evaluated by the BC Teacher Qualification Service.
