Job Overview The Main is looking for a dedicated Assistant Baker/Cook to support café service. The ideal candidate will assist with daily kitchen operations, including food prep, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, keeping on top of dishes, and ensuring food safety and quality. This role requires a solid background in from-scratch food preparation and general kitchen maintenance.

This position will be primarily compromised of early morning shifts. Estimated weekly hours begins at 12-16 hours/week.

Duties

- Following recipes to bake items from scratch, including cookies, muffins, and scones
- Following recipes to cook items including bacon, egg bites, and meats
- Staying on top of dishes, and ensuring all dishes are cleaned and sanitized to café standard
- Ingredient preparation including washing, cutting, peeling, and portioning
- Assembling basic menu items
- Sweeping and mopping kitchen area
- Cleaning and sanitizing counters, sinks, and high-touch surfaces




- Emptying garbage cans and disposing of kitchen and food waste properly
- Unpacking and organizing food and supply deliveries
- Rotating stock and checking expiration dates
- Other kitchen-related tasks as needed

Qualifications

- Proven experience in a baking role within the food industry, preferably in a bakery or café
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure smooth prep and service
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and inventory management
- Flexible availability, including early morning, weekends, and holidays

Salary This position begins at $18.00 per hour, with regular opportunities for pay increase based on performance.
