The Role You'll be an early-career member of the Power Supply Chain team, helping track the equipment, manufacturers, and policy dynamics shaping how thermal generation, solar and storage, and grid equipment get built across North America. The team's research spans questions like which developers and manufacturers carry exposure under new restrictions on foreign-sourced grid equipment, how quickly behind-the-meter (BTM) generation and battery storage are being deployed to meet data center demand, and how turbine and transformer lead times are reshaping timelines. You'll focus on a defined set of recurring questions, learning to answer them by working through public filings, trade press, and the Enverus suite of products alongside more senior team members - using AI from day one to raise the quality and speed of your own work.
You'll start on well-defined pieces of that research and build the technical judgment to take on more over time.
This role is based at our Calgary office, with hybrid work available and regular in-office presence expected.
What you'll be doing
- Update a tracker of equipment and manufacturer filings to flag which solar, storage, or thermal developers show exposure under new restricted-equipment policies.
- Pull together a chart comparing gas turbine or transformer manufacturers' backlogs and delivery schedules for a client request.
- Research a grid equipment manufacturer's supply agreements and capacity expansion plans to update a company profile.
- Publish a research note on an equipment or policy trend, in collaboration with your Team Lead or more senior analysts, and walk through your findings with customers.
- Sit in on a client call and follow up on action items within 24 hours.
How we work Associates on the Power Supply Chain team work closely with their Team Lead and more senior analysts, executing well-defined research tasks and building the foundation to take on more independent work over time. You're expected to ask questions, flag when you're stuck, and gradually take on less structured pieces of the team's research as your judgment develops.
Who thrives on this team
- You're naturally curious about how physical equipment connects to markets, policy, and company strategy.
- You're comfortable digging through public filings and messy datasets to find the pattern that matters.
- You want direct, specific feedback and treat it as a chance to improve, not a knock.
- You can move between detailed technical work and distilling what you found into a clear, client-ready report or presentation.
- You take the work seriously, not yourself.
What you'll own
- Base research: Contribute to regularly published research by aggregating public information - filings, trade press, company disclosures - to identify trends in equipment manufacturers, developers, and policy exposure.
- Ad hoc research: Support ad hoc research as directed by your Team Lead or a Senior Analyst, building and maintaining models and trackers.
- Cross Team Collaboration: Work with power markets, power assets, commercial and data center teams to update models and ensure cross functionality across analysis and research.
- Data & product support: Help maintain proprietary datasets on equipment manufacturers,
BTM generation announcements, and capacity additions that feed the Enverus suite of products.
- Client calls: Participate in client and prospect calls, start handling simple follow-ups, and build your understanding of what clients actually need.
- Research writing: Contribute sections and visualizations to published notes under the guidance of more senior team members.
Must-haves
- 0-3 years of relevant experience - this is an entry-level research role.
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, finance, economics, data science, or a related field.
- Strong Excel and AI skills and comfort working with large, messy datasets.
- Clear, organized written and oral communication.
- A genuine interest in power markets, grid equipment, or industrial supply chains.
Helpful, but not required
- Familiarity with FERC filings, SEC filings, or other regulatory disclosures.
- Experience with Python, SQL, or data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire.
- Prior internship or coursework related to energy, power markets, or supply chain analysis.
What success looks like in your first 12 months
- You're independently maintaining several of the team's core trackers or datasets.
- You've contributed meaningfully to multiple published research notes.
- You're taking a more active role on client calls rather than just observing.
- Your Team Lead trusts you with less-defined tasks and less oversight.
