About You
Are you a passionate, hands-on Athletic Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact in elite student-athlete development? We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Part time Athletic Therapist to join our high-performance sports medicine team.
In this role, you will be on the front lines of athletic performance and athlete care—delivering comprehensive clinical treatments, managing field-of-play safety, traveling with competitive teams, and mentoring the next generation of sports professionals.
Whether you're helping an athlete recover from an acute injury or preparing a team for game day, your expertise will directly contribute to the health, safety, and athletic success of our student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Clinical Care & Rehabilitation
- Conduct clinical assessments, deliver evidence-based treatments, and design targeted rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
- Apply pre-game/pre-practice prophylactic techniques, including specialized taping, strapping, and functional bracing.
Event & Travel Coverage
- Provide primary emergency care, side-line assessment, and athletic therapy coverage during sports practices, home games, and tournament play.
- Travel on the road with basketball and hockey teams to manage acute injuries, pre-game prep, and post-game recovery routines.
- Lead specialized concussion management for hockey using the HeadCheck Health platform, ensuring strict adherence to protocols from baseline testing through return-to-play.
Communication & Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Act as a key liaison between the Athletic Therapy team, coaching staff,
strength & conditioning coaches, and student-athletes to communicate injury status, active treatment plans, and clear return-to-play timelines.
Mentorship & Student Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and guide student placement interns from Brock University, providing constructive feedback and hands-on learning in real-world clinical and field-of-play environments.
Education & Certification:
- Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C) in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) and the Ontario Athletic Therapist Association (OATA) (or active candidate preparing for certification).
- Active First Responder or Emergency First Aid/CPR-HCP certification.
Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in acute injury management, sport-specific rehabilitation, and sideline emergency response (basketball and hockey experience is an asset).
- Familiarity with concussion management platforms (e.g., HeadCheck Health) and digital record-keeping systems.
- Willingness and availability to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and team travel.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to sports medicine.
As a condition of employment, a satisfactory Vulnerable Persons Screening report must be provided. While all applicants are thanked for their interest, only those chosen for interviews will be contacted.
