Position: Barista

Location: Bowen Island, BC (Steps from the Snug Cove Ferry Terminal)

Pay Rate: $21.00 – $25.00 / hour (based on experience) + Generous Tip Pool

Shift: Morning/Day Shift (Shift starts as early as 7:00 AM, finishes as early as 3:00 PM)

About The Snug Cafe For decades, The Snug Cafe has been the heart of Bowen Island—a cozy, fast-paced hub where locals grab their early morning coffee and visitors fuel up for island adventures. Located right off the ferry dock, we take pride in crafting premium espresso drinks, serving high-quality breakfast burritos, custom Benny bowls, and fresh baked goods in a warm, welcoming environment.

The Role

We are looking for an energetic, welcoming, and efficient Barista to join our tight-knit front-of-house team. Our cafe bar is fast-paced and vibrant, so you need to be quick on your feet, passionate about quality coffee, and exceptional at customer service—whether you’re pulling shots through a morning ferry rush or managing the counter during steady afternoon hours.

Key Responsibilities

- Dial in espresso equipment and accurately craft a full menu of espresso beverages, teas, and specialty drinks to consistent standards.
- Welcome guests warmly, take orders efficiently at the POS, handle cash/card transactions, and maintain a friendly atmosphere.
- Assist with opening duties (starting as early as 7:00 AM) or closing breakdown (finishing as early as 3:00 PM), ensuring the bar area remains spotless and fully stocked.




- Manage high-volume customer lines smoothly, keeping wait times low without sacrificing drink quality or hospitality.
- Maintain strict sanitation standards, clean milk pitchers, group heads, and counter areas regularly throughout the shift.
- Operate self-sufficiently during quieter periods and seamlessly collaborate with the kitchen and floor staff during peak rushes.

What We’re Looking For

- Experience: 1+ years of specialty coffee/barista experience in a high-volume cafe setting.
- Speed & Focus: Thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining drink consistency and latte art accuracy.
- Hospitality Mindset: Genuine love for people, memorable customer service, and positive energy under pressure.
- Reliability: Punctual and reliable—especially if taking the early morning ferry for 7:00 AM shifts!
- Certification: FoodSafe Level 1 is an asset (or willingness to obtain).
