Bells Lane Kitchen is a food hall located in Purdy's Wharf Tower on the Halifax waterfront. We feed the downtown crowd from 7:00 AM: breakfast, a lunch menu, grab-and-go, and catering. The kitchen runs Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. No nights. No weekends.

We are hiring a Chef and Line Cook to work 5 days a week for this location and the ability to work certain weekends for events. We are looking for kitchen leaders willing to own their role and take on responsibilities of prep, line, catering, managing food costs and designing menus.

What the day looks like

- Morning prep for the day's menu and for catering orders: proteins, vegetables, sauces, salads and baked goods
- Line service through the lunch rush on the grill, flat top and cold station
- Building catering orders to spec and on time: boxed lunches, sandwich and wrap platters, cookies, and the occasional breakfast delivery
- Labelling, dating and rotating product, and keeping your station clean and inspection-ready through the shift
- Closing down the line so tomorrow's 7:00 AM start is smooth
- Preparing catering orders from our menu

What we need from you





- 2 to 3 years cooking in a rapid-paced kitchen MINIMUM. Volume and consistency matter here more than fine dining plating
- Reliable at 7:00 AM. This is the one thing we cannot train
- Clean knife work and a good eye for portions and presentation
- Calm on the line when catering orders stack on top of lunch service, because some days they do
- Legally able to work in Canada
- MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK FULL TIME HOURS

Nice to have

- Food Handler certificate.
- Catering or high-volume production experience
