Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Engineering Designer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering design, technical direction, and project support across a variety of civil, structural, industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on position suited for someone who enjoys both technical design and project delivery.

The successful candidate will work directly with Clients, Contractors, other Engineers and Designers, and will have the prospect to take projects from concept and preliminary design through detailed design, construction, and completion.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, and comfortable working independently while also leading and mentoring junior engineering staff and designers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform and oversee civil and structural engineering design for industrial, energy and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions while considering constructability, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Lead the preparation of design packages from conceptual design through detailed design and construction.
- Coordinate engineering designs with Clients, Contractors, other consultants, and other disciplines.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior designers.
- Conduct site investigations, inspections, field measurements, and condition assessments.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals,



and resolving field issues.
- Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements, develop solutions, and provide technical recommendations.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain effective communication with clients and project stakeholders.
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable Canadian codes, standards, regulations, and professional engineering requirements.
- Maintain appropriate project documentation and quality-control procedures.
- Support business development and the development of long-term client relationships.
- Perform other engineering and project-related duties as required.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering consulting or design experience preferred.
- Strong experience in civil and/or structural engineering design, preferably within industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors.
- Strong knowledge of applicable Canadian engineering codes and standards.
- Proficiency with analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro and SAP2000.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other drafting software.
- Strong understanding of construction practices.
- Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, engineering reports, and construction documents.
- Strong project coordination and technical leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions while knowing when to seek additional technical input.




- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for site visits and field inspections.
- Experience in hydropower and dam projects, including dam safety reviews, rehabilitation projects, engineering design and services during construction is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in utility projects including high-voltage substations, power generation and transmission/distribution is considered a strong asset.
- A P.Eng designation, licensed in a Canadian Province will be considered a strong asset.

Compensation Salary will be based on experience, technical qualifications, and responsibilities.

Location

Markham, Ontario

This is primarily an in-office position, Monday to Friday, with occasional travel to project sites and client locations as required.
