CNC Lathe Machinist

XL Tool Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our growing team.

Shift Options

Day Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday, 4:15 PM – 2:30 AM

Required Experience & Qualifications
- Machinist trade certificate or 5–10 years of experience as a custom machinist




- Strong experience setting up and operating manual and CNC lathes
- Proven experience with CNC lathe setup, operation, and troubleshooting
- Experience machining nuclear, automation, tooling, and die components
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T; drawings, charts, and tables
- Ability to determine the appropriate machining process and sequence from customer drawings and requirements
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, feeds, speeds, and machining processes
- Ability to check dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to work overtime when required
- Commitment to working safely and respectfully

The following would be considered an asset:

- Experience with Okuma controls
- Experience programming CNC lathes
- Experience with Mastercam
- Knowledge of CAD software
- Experience in custom tooling, automation, or tool and die manufacturing

Your Contributions to the Team As a CNC Lathe Machinist at XL Tool, you will:
- Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes in a custom machining environment
- Program CNC lathes using Mastercam and make program edits at the machine when required




- Determine machining processes and sequencing based on customer drawings and specifications
- Produce complex, high-quality components to customer specifications and tight tolerances
- Inspect your own work and verify all critical dimensions and tolerances
- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, tooling, setups, and programming
- Recommend new tooling and setup-reduction strategies to improve quality, cost, and delivery
- Troubleshoot machining and setup issues
- Perform daily machine checks and follow preventative maintenance and safety procedures
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, including chip removal, work areas, floors, benches, and storage areas
- Communicate effectively with other machinists, programmers, toolmakers, and management
- Work safely and respectfully while contributing to a positive team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
