Position Summary

Precision Garage Door Service Of Edmonton is currently looking for a Commercial Overhead Door Apprentice. The position is responsible for supporting Lead Technicians in all aspects of commercial overhead door service, repair, and installation projects while actively learning the trade.

The Commercial Overhead Door Apprentice plays a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the company’s quality standards. This role requires a strong work ethic, technical mechanical aptitude, eager learning attitude, and effective communication skills to work collaboratively alongside Lead Technicians and internal teams.

Requirements

- High School Diploma or equivalent; mechanical or technical trade background preferred.
- Mechanical inclination and comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and ladders/scaffolding.
- Ability to learn how to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
- Robust organizational skills with attention to detail and time management.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-first mindset.
- Physical capability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs) and work at heights.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract.

The following experience / credentials are considered assets:

- Registered Apprentice in a relevant trade (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Millwright)
- Basic experience with Electrical or wiring systems
- Basic experience or familiarity with Welding
- Experience working on construction sites or docks
- Experience hauling or maneuvering trailers
- Fall Protection or Aerial Work Platform (AWP) certifications

Key ResponsibilitiesWorking Conditions

- Based primarily out of our Edmonton office, traveling daily with Lead Technicians to customer and job sites.
- Standard workweek Monday–Friday,



with occasional overtime or weekend work required to meet site deadlines.
- Primarily physical field work across indoor and outdoor site conditions year-round.
- Must strictly adhere to all company and site-specific safety procedures.

Learning & Support

- Assist Lead Technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial doors and operator systems.
- Learn to safely operate specialized tools, lifts, and equipment under direct supervision.
- Prepare, organize, and inspect service trucks, inventory, and job site materials before and after jobs.
- Follow instructions, technical manuals, and safety guidelines provided by Lead Technicians.

Operations & Customer Service

- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job site workspaces.
- Represent Precision Garage Door Service professionally when interacting with job site contacts and commercial clients.
- Assist with staging materials, unloading doors, hardware, dock equipment, and operators on site.
- Communicate clearly with Lead Technicians regarding work progress, safety concerns, or material shortages.

Pay: $23.00-$30.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
