Location: Port Alberni and surrounding communities, including Parksville, Qualicum Beach and Nanoose Bay

Position Summary The Communications Coordinator will help increase visibility, community engagement and financial support for the organization.

This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people, building relationships and sharing stories about our work. This position will strengthen our visibility in Port Alberni, Parksville, Qualicum Beach and Nanoose Bay, while helping grow our network of donors, supporters, businesses, community partners and volunteers.

The role combines communications, digital marketing, community outreach and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and coordinate digital and print communications that highlight the organization's programs, people, impact and successes.
- Manage and create content for major social media platforms.
- Use Meta Business Suite and Facebook advertising tools to help grow audiences, promote programs and support fundraising.
- Identify opportunities to increase the organization's visibility throughout the region.
- Attend and participate in selected local community events (festivals, fairs etc).
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, service providers, donors and potential partners.
- Develop and help grow the organization's donor and supporter base.
- Support fundraising campaigns, events and donor communications.
- Develop stories, photographs and other content that demonstrate the impact of the organization's work.
- Assist with website updates and maintaining accurate, current information online.




- Support organizational announcements, newsletters, promotional materials and other communications as needed.
- Represent the organization professionally and positively in the community.

Qualifications and Skills We are looking for someone who:

- Is outgoing, approachable and comfortable speaking with people from many different backgrounds.
- Enjoys building relationships and making new community connections.
- Is a solid written and verbal communicator.
- Has experience using major social media platforms for an organization, business or campaign.
- Has working knowledge of Meta Business Suite and Facebook advertising.
- Understands basic digital marketing, audience engagement and content creation.
- Is organized, dependable and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Can work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
- Has good judgment and understands the importance of respectful and sensitive communications.
- Has experience with WordPress or website content management, considered an asset.
- Has experience in communications, fundraising, community engagement, nonprofit work or marketing, considered an asset.

Additional Requirements

- A valid driver's licence and access to reliable personal transportation are required, as travel between communities and events will be part of the position.
- Some evening and weekend availability is required for community events and outreach activities.
- The successful candidate must be comfortable working in environments that serve people with a wide range of experiences, circumstances and needs.

Pay: $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
