“Home is the Heart of our Community” and we are expanding our culinary team. We are looking for a passionate cook who enjoys bring a smile to people through food. This role will start as Part time and grow to a full-time position as our occupancy grows. Duties & Responsibilities:

· Participates in menu development and is responsible for the timely preparation, presentation and delivery of food to residents.

· Responsible to guide and direct staff in the preparation, presentation and serving of food when Director of Culinary is not present

· Responsible for ensuring the kitchen and dining room are clean and sanitary.

· Coordinates and cooperates with leadership team with respect to special functions or events.

· follow menu / production sheets

· cook food items according to recipes, make appropriate substitution choices when needed

·Provide residents with an engaging dining service and receive feedback on meal service and menu items from residents

· follow all Public Health regulations





· accepting order deliveries and checking for accuracy, spoilage, and damaged goods. Follow up with vendor and Director of Culinary

· Safely work will all equipment by participating in training, using all guards and safety lids, or wear safety equipment

· Use chemicals properly using WHIMS and following safety sheets

· Keep kitchen counters clean during service and limit crumb, spills and food residue

· Follow All Cleaning schedules to maintain kitchen cleanliness

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

- Current Food Handlers Certificate
- Experience cooking in a commercial kitchen
- Knowledge of WHIMS
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Covid-19 Vaccination Strongly Recommended
- Current TB Test
- Must have empathy for, and an understanding of the needs of the elderly
- Ability to stand and lift up to 30lbs

Job Types: Permanent, Part-time Pay: $18.50-$19.00 per hour

Licence/Certification

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (required)
