About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on creative who understands our customers and knows how to make content that speaks directly to them. You’ll own our social content from first idea to published post: strategy, concept, filming, photography, editing and publishing.
About 60% of the role is creative production, including social media content, photography and video editing. This isn’t a typical Social Media Manager job. You’ll be just as comfortable asking why a piece of content will work as you are making it.
What You’ll Do
Creative strategy
- Get to know our customer avatars: their pain points, goals, objections, fears, buying motivations and the questions they ask before starting a renovation.
- Turn those insights into content angles, hooks, video concepts, scripts, content series and ad creatives.
- Look at a single renovation project and see multiple stories worth telling.
Filming and photography
- Travel to renovation sites across Calgary to capture content yourself.
- Shoot short-form video, Reels and TikToks, walkthroughs, before-and-afters, educational videos, UGC-style content, testimonials, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, paid social creatives and project photography.
- Apply solid fundamentals in framing, lighting, audio and composition, and know how to put camera-shy people at ease.
Editing
- Turn raw footage into polished, publish-ready content, with no outside editor needed.
- Bring a robust sense of short-form pacing, storytelling and attention-grabbing hooks.
- Handle captions and on-screen text, B-roll, music and sound, basic colour correction, audio cleanup, transitions where they fit, and platform-specific formatting.
- Work confidently in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or similar tools.
Social media
- Publish and schedule content on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
- Write captions, manage the content calendar and repurpose content across platforms.
- Spot trends and opportunities, and keep content flowing consistently.
Performance and testing
- Look beyond views and likes. Which hook, angle or customer avatar worked? Where did viewers drop off? What led to real inquiries and leads?
- Use those learnings to decide what to test next and make better content each time.
What You Bring
Proven experience in:
- Creative strategy, customer avatars and audience psychology
- Developing content angles, hooks and scripts
- Videography, photography and short-form video production
- Video editing and storytelling
- Instagram, Facebook and TikTok content
- Publishing and content management
How to Apply A portfolio is required. Please share finished videos and photos you personally helped conceive, shoot and edit. Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
