We are looking for a Director of Health & Safety for a publicly traded mining company. Reporting to the COO, this high-impact role oversees enterprise-wide safety strategy across multiple operating underground mines in Mexico.

The ideal candidate is an operationally grounded, team-oriented safety executive who can bridge strategic vision with hands-on site execution to foster a proactive, zero-harm culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Leadership: Design, implement, and continuously elevate corporate health and safety strategy across all operational sites.
- Governance & Advisory: Provide expert advisory support, establish rigorous safety governance, and champion risk management best practices across executive and site-level management.
- Operational Execution: Drive underground mining safety programs, critical risk management systems, emergency preparedness, audit protocols, and contractor safety management.
- Site Engagement: Regularly visit mine operations—spending time underground—to partner with site leadership, coach teams,



and maintain strong operational visibility.

Qualifications & Experience

- Experience: 12–15+ years of progressive health and safety leadership in the mining industry, including multi-site or corporate oversight.
- Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of underground mining operations, processing plant safety, critical risk management, and safety management system development.
- Language Skills: At least an intermediate level of Spanish is required
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Professional designations (e.g., CRSP, CSP, CIH, or equivalent) are strongly preferred.

Location & Travel

- Base: Flexible / Site Travel
- Travel: Regular on-site presence at underground mining operations across Mexico (around 30-50%)
